Hi Shashi! I’m Jan-B from SEO Hacker here’s how you can go about adding categories to your blog site.

    1. Creating a label for posts.

You need to first add your own label posts. You can add labels by entering texts into the textbox which is located right at the bottom of the screen for writing or editing posts (Posting– Create or Posting– Edit Posts).

For example, I entered the label “simple-tutorial” for my post.

    Next:
    2. Creating a Page element category.

You can use Labels gadget or you can actually write your own HTML to add category links one at a time. Labels gadget is very simple to manipulate.

    Adding Labels gadget to blog.

    1. Go to Layout.

    2. Click on Add Gadget.

    3. Select Labels Gadget

    4. Enter the title, choose to show all labels or only selected labels, sorting type. You can show the number of posts per label by just clicking on the check box and by displaying labels as a list or cloud.

Write your own HTML to add the category links.

If you want even more control, you can write your own HTML code. Your HTML with category list should look like this:

    (a href=”/search/label/[LABEL]”>[TEXT][TEXT]Useful webssimple tutorial[TEXT]</a) " element.

Adding HTML or JavaScript to your blog.

Now, we just have to add this HTML code to your blog.
    1. Go to Layout.

    2. Click on Add Gadget.

    3. Select HTML/JavaScript.

    4. Enter the title "Categories" and copy and paste the HTML category list code in the content box with the replaced [LABEL] and [TEXT] elements. Save this and now you have your categories.

And regarding subcategories, as far as I know, there are no sub labels or subcategories. Good luck with your blog site. Hope this helps. If you have anymore questions, just go ahead and ask away. We'll try our best to answer any and all of them. God bless. 🙂

By the way, I changed some of the icons of the codes into "(" and ")" so they would be read by the computer as is. Otherwise they would've been read as codes. Just replace them with "” respectively.

Is it really necessary to create categories and subcategories? May I know its details?

They are just a category part as you select for directories & bookmarkings. Moreover they can act as the tags to search for your post.
